Bio/Contact Information :

Margate is a residential suburb of the Moreton Bay Region in the east of the Redcliffe peninsula, approximately 26 kilometres (16 mi) north-northeast of Brisbane. Margate Beach is a stretch of beach spanning the length of the suburb, featuring a timber boardwalk, with viewing shelters, and barbecue facilities. There are great views to Moreton Island over sandy beaches and Moreton Bay. The boardwalk covers the original cement steps to Margate Beach which are still visible and in use further down the waterfront at Suttons Beach, Redcliffe. Margate Village provides the higher order retail and commercial role of a centre serving mainly Redcliffe City residents. Almost 800 students are enrolled at the local primary school, Humpybong State School, a heritage listed school which first opened in 1909. The school superseded two previous schools and was ideally situated, then, in the centre of the Peninsula's coastal development. The Redcliffe heritage designer-builder Alex Smith constructed a number of buildings in Margate. Check 'Weekend Notes' for current happenings in Margate.
